Vikings Response To Minn. DOT Road Construction Estimate.

May 19, 2011 by Nick in CONTROVERSY, NEW STADIUM

Eden Prairie, MN (May 18, 2011) – We want to thank Governor Dayton, the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Ramsey County for working together to quickly explore in further detail the off-site transportation needs and costs for a new stadium at the TCAAP site in Arden Hills. It is important for all parties to be in agreement on the numbers so we can now focus our energy on moving this project forward. We appreciate the fact that these discussions have lowered the overall project costs, and we look forward to working with the governor and legislative leaders on resolving the stadium issue in Minnesota.

MNVikingsBlog.com Analysis: I’m sure the Vikings appreciate the ‘lower’ amount however they still didn’t address the issue with who is going to pay for the construction.  The Vikings will continue to urge that the use of the roads will be for a lot more then just the Vikings stadium and therefor they shouldn’t have to pay.  I’m sure the state of MN will continue to argue that without the stadium the road work isn’t needed.   It should be interesting to see what comes about in the next couple weeks.
