McKinnie on non-football injury list (too fat?) & Berrian Restructures Deal

August 2, 2011 by Nick in Off Season Training

Training camp didn’t start the way Bryant McKinnie had hoped as he was placed on the non-football injury list Monday morning.  Rumor has it that he’s out of shape but Frazier nor any of the other Vikings coaches would discuss details.

In other early camp notes Wide receiver Bernard Berrian agreed to restructure a contract that called for him to make a base salary of $3.9 million this season, with a salary cap number of $6.3 million. He said the contract will now expire after the 2012 season.

Berrian surely was going to be a salary cap hit this year if Sidney Rice was retained.  Obviously this didn’t happen so it only makes sense to restructure his contract.  Berrian is a veteran receiver who has shown promise at times.  Unfortunately he has never delivered as expected and has gotten a bad rap from the fans ever since.  Hopefully this is the year where he proves us all wrong.
