McNabb Contract Details: One Year 5 Million Dollars

August 6, 2011 by Nick in Off Season Training

Details of Mcnabb’s contract with the Minnesota Vikings has finally been released and it looks like its a one year deal for 5 million dollars.  Incentives have been put it place to reach a little higher than 7 million.

McNabb in his original contract signed with the Redskins offered him 78 million over 5 years.  It’s obvious that he had to restructure to become a Vikings and he has done just that.  Rumor has it that a team was willing to take on his existing contract but the playing opportunity wasn’t believed to be as enticing as the Vikings.

McNabb is a fantastic option given the lockout has prevented rookie Christian Ponder from practicing with the team most of the off season.  Best case scenario McNabb plays wonderfully and we have several good QB’s on the team.  Worse case we dump McNabb after this season and he was a great bridge to use as Ponder gets use to the speed of the NFL.
