According to ESPNs blog Minnesota Vikings defensive tackle Kevin Williams says he has plantar fasciitis in his left foot and is unlikely to play in the team’s final two preseason games.
Williams met with a foot specialist on Monday. He returned to watch practice on Tuesday and says he isn’t concerned about the injury preventing him from playing in the regular season.
Williams says the plan is to rest for precautionary reasons. He also is facing a possible suspension for taking a diuretic with a banned substance in it three years ago. Williams fought the failed test in court, but ultimately lost the case.
Losing Williams for the rest of the pre-season is best case scenario after news broke of Williams injuring his foot in last weeks game. Rumor has it that the NFL will still suspend Williams this season but it looks like it could be for only 2 games. If Williams injury is more significant the injury just might work to his advantage. Williams would be able to come back at better then 100% for a game against the Detroit Lions September 25th.
