Vikings Sign Linebacker David Herron

August 27, 2011 by Nick in FREE AGENTS

The Vikings have signed linebacker David Herron, who spent the 2008 season with Minnesota.

Herron, who last season played just two games for San Diego, first joined the Vikings in 2007 and appeared in two games. He then started three of the 14 games he played in 2008, racking up 14 tackles.

Linebacker Mark Washington was waived to open a roster spot.

MNVIKINGSBLOG.COM ANALYSIS:

It still looks like the Vikings are trying to work out all the kinks in the LB corps this season.  While you can comfortably assume Erin Henderson, E.J. Henderson, and Chad Greenway will be the starters, everyone after that is suspect.  Herron could be an interesting depth signing assuming he can contribute to special teams.
