Adrian Peterson Signs 7 Year 100 Million Dollar Contract Extension

September 10, 2011 by Nick in PLAYER NEWS

Just before the big game tomorrow against the team Adrian Peterson torched for almost 300 yards, Adrian Peterson has agreed to a 7 year 100 million dollar contract.  This undoubtedly makes Peterson the highest paid running back in the National Football League.

While the contract is 7 years, 100 million dollars the guaranteed money is really 36 million dollars.  A.P. in the first three years of the deal has the opportunity to earn over 40 million dollars with all escalators being met.

“Adrian’s happy to get this behind him and have it done before the season,” Peterson’s father, Nelson told USA TODAY from San Diego Saturday. “It’s a tribute to the type of person Adrian is, the way he was raised not to say negative things and go through a holdout. “He’s pretty excited.”

Peterson released a statement through the Vikings’ official Twitter feed Saturday saying, “Today is an incredible day. Minnesota’s where I want to be and I’m excited to continue playing for you.”
