Vikings Sign Center Joe Berger Cut Center Jon Cooper

September 12, 2011 by Nick in FREE AGENTS

1500 ESPN reports that the Vikings have signed Center Joe Berger (formally of the Dolphins).  To make room on the 53 man roster the Vikings have decided to waive Center Jon Cooper.   Cooper was an undrafted free agent that signed with the Vikes in 2009.

Berger is now the third active center that the Vikings have on their 53 man roster.   The reason he may have been activated to the 53 man roster is because of his ability to play many positions on the line.  He could be good depth in case of injury.

Lezlie Frazier was quoted earlier: “(We) just felt like for what we were trying to do and where we want to be that this is the right thing to do,” Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said. “Jon has done a great job for us. Really like what he has done for our football team and in our locker room as well. But for where we’re trying to get we just thought that this would be a good move. We’ll see how it goes.”

This guy (Berger) is so intellectual & ‘make it happen’ player … look forward to seeing him against Green Bay!
