Vikings Waive DE Adrian Awasom To Make Roster Space For Kevin Williams

September 21, 2011 by Nick in PLAYER NEWS

Kevin Williams has served his 2 game suspension for violating the leagues substance abuse policy.  Now that the Vikings have finished up their first two games Williams has returned to practice.  In order to make room for Williams, Defensive End Adrian Awasom was waived.

Vikings fans have to be excited to get their pro-bowl defensive tackle back for the big game this week against the Lions.  With Kevin Williams always demanding double coverage it opens up the opportunities for the rest of the defense to make plays.   Kevin Williams suffered a foot injury in pre-season so the two game suspension couldn’t have come at a better time (if there is such a thing).  Williams is reported to be in good condition and will surely cause havoc on the field this weekend.

As for Awasom, look for the Vikings to try to add him to their practice squad if no other team makes a claim for him on waivers.
