Adrian Peterson Has High Ankle Sprain Plans To Play Sunday.

November 21, 2011 by Nick in Player Injury Reports

Every Viking fan held their breath this past Sunday against Oakland when Adrian Peterson was helped off the field after an apparent ankle injury.   Reports stipulated that Adrian Peterson’s x-rays were negative and that he would get an MRI sometime Monday.   More recent reports have come out saying that Adrian Peterson has not broken any bones but has a high ankle sprain with ligament issues. When Peterson was asked if he would try to play this Sunday against the Falcon after Sundays loss to the Raiders  he responded with the following statement:

“That’s not in my DNA,” Peterson said after the Vikings lost 27-21 to Oakland. “I’m going to try to get back as fast as I can and God willing, I’ll be up and ready to run this weekend.”

Vikings head coach Leslie Frazier confirmed that Adrian Peterson will be expected to be in a boot for a couple days.  He also noted that Friday will be when Peterson attempts to practice.  If Peterson isn’t able to go then his backup Toby Gerhert could get the majority of the reps with Lorenzo Booker and even Percy Harvin helping out as well.
