Vikings Announce Rick Spielman As General Manager

January 3, 2012 by Nick in COACHING

Many fans didn’t realize that the Vikings didn’t have an active General Manager on the team.  The times have changes and the Vikings very recently announced that Rick Spielman will be the teams General Manager.  Spielman was recently the teams Vice President of Player Personnel since 2006.  Spielman has routinely been praised as a salary cap guru and talent evaluator.

The Vikings officially announced on their site:

“This establishes the organizational structure that will lead to the long term success of the Vikings. Having watched Rick over the years, we have the utmost confidence that he will help us reach our ultimate goal of winning championships.”

This is great news for the Vikings and Vikings fans.  With the #3 pick in this years draft you have to wonder what Spielman has going on under his sleeves.
